This my collection of lecture notes from the IISER Kolkata BSMS program. Some of the notes are in $\text{LATEX}$, while others are handwritten. Below I am listing all the notes and assignments (which I feel are usable) for each course. However, this is not all the notes I have, which can be found in the GitLab Group.

Exhaustive course material can be found on a common Google Drive folder, contributed by all the members of “IISER Coaching” group.

    Don’t have specific notes for this course, but I have a collection of assignment solutions: Dirac Comb, Coherent States.

    In this course, I was also assigned a group term project on SUSY in Quantum Mechanics, where we explored the concept of supersymmetry in quantum mechanics and using it we created a hierarchy of 1D reflectionless potentials. The project was a collaborative effort between me and my group mates Ronit Bhuyan, and Eklavya Kukrety. The report is available here, and final presentation slides are available here.

  • PH3102 Intermediate Quantum Mechanics
    Instructor for this course Dr. Siddhartha Lal had provided his notes for this course, which can be found here.

Mathematics

I have not taken many mathematics courses as compared to a math major student, but I have been taking a few courses in the past few years.

• Autumn 2024

  • MA3102 Algebra I
    In this course, we studied the group theory. For this course, I have my handwritten class notes, which can be found here.

  • MA3105 Numerical Analysis
    In the course, we studied root finding methods, numerical calculus, solving linear systems, and eigenvalue problems. All the code and assignments for this course are available here.

    For our end-semester project, we studied power method for finding the eigenvalues of a matrix. I have completed this project along with my group mates Gautum Singh, and Sabarno Saha. • Spring 2024

  • MA2201 Analysis II
    Taught by Dr. Rajib Dutta, this course covered the topics of differentiability, integration, and sequences and series of functions. He provided handwritten notes for this course, which can be found here.

  • MA2202 Probability I
    Taught by Dr. Soumya Bhattacharya, this course covered the topics of axiomatic probability, conditional probability, Bayes’ theorem, Random variables, memorylessness, law of large numbers, (discrete time) Markov chains, the central limit theorem, and order statistics. He provided typed notes for this course, which can be found here.
